About me

Hey there! I'm a Back-End Software Engineer who's passionate about using Ruby on Rails and Python with the Django framework for Application Development. I'm also currently diving into JavaScript with React to begin my journey to become a Full-Stack developer.

Throughout my 10 years of experience, I've always had a strong focus on education and service-oriented work. I have learned a lot from many different fields and have aquired plenty of soft skills to contribute to a team-oriented environment. I'm really excited about finding a collaborative team that values effective communication, critical thinking, and a sense of camaraderie. With a background in Political Science, I believe in the power of teamwork to create stronger communities and now, improved software, for a better future.

I take a proactive approach to ensure my team's success by constantly reaching out and making sure everyone feels supported. If someone on the team is struggling, I'm always there to find resources and personally assist them in any way I can. I'm also a dedicated learner myself, always looking for opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. Right now, I'm actively seeking opportunities to expand my skill set even further. I'm teaching myself new languages and frameworks that will not only benefit me, but also help my future teams thrive.

Market Next Door is a application to connect a local vendor or farmer with a customer to establish preorders for an upcoming Farmer's Market. This application seeks to reduce waste and promote local business by connecting potential consumers directly with goods that local farmers are selling.

The first sprint of this project oversaw the creation of the front and back end portions of the application in completely new languages/frameworks (Typescript and Django) and was implemented within a week and a half!

In our second sprint we:

  • Consumed a USDA official API to link showcase Farmer's Markets wherever the Vendor or Customer might wish and display them on an interactive map.
  • Consumed a weather API for weather updates and implemented caching of that data.
  • Established a CDN for client side assets (photos of products vendors wish to sell).
  • Integrated OAuth authentication.

This app serves as a Dungeous & Dragons, Dungeon Master's Companion App and leverages the power of AI to create curated adventures for a DM and their party. This app currently utilizes a Ruby/Rails FE that consumes a Ruby/Rails BE.

This app is a one-stop-shop companion for a DM to create adventures for their party. Create towns with stories and characters that feel believable. Follow those stories into dungeons that are fully populated with loot and combat encounters (both of which can be randomly generated based on the theme and the party’s level). Using the power of AI lifts HOURS of work from the DM as they work to create a campaign.

The current project is in iteration 1 which ended after our first initial sprint (2 weeks) and enables a DM to register and begin creating new Towns, NPCs (Non-Player Characters), and Quests.
