About me
I am a graduate of the Turing School of Software and Designs back end program and focused on the Ruby language. In the course of my education I have learned how to build rails applications more more importantly, I learned how to teach myself new skills and languages. I started my educational path working towards an engineering degree but found myself pulled towards coding because it engages my problem solving mindset and has no ceiling for learning. I am excited to start my professional journey and find a company that I can contribute to as well as grow with.

Our app was designed to be a bartenders cocktail recipe book. The goal we had after envisioning this product was to allow the user to search for cocktails, save them, and then edit the locally saved recipe. We created a service oriented architecture styled application using GraphQL to provide the necessary information to our front end team while incorporating an external API of cocktail recipes. This team communicated via Slack, mapped out our plan on a Miro board, and utilized stories on our GitHub project board to keep our team working smoothly.

This project was built as a monolithic application with the ability to have many sellers, items and invoices. As a team we built the base application including the admin functionality, using slack, GitHub and daily stand ups to collaborate. Our application was an opportunity for us to experiment with SQL and gain experience working with a group of developers to improve our collaboration. As an individual, I took our application and built out the discounts extension. This allows sellers to apply bulk discounts to items purchased in bulk which heavily relied on SQL.
