About me
My name is Brandon. I'm a US Navy veteran and am passionate about putting a positive spin on things and uplifting those around me. I have a few Ruby on Rails and Python apps under my belt, and I'm ready to bring my knowledge and attitude to a new industry. I've worked in the restaurant business for 10 years, but have always had a craving for something on the technical side. While honing my "hard" skills like writing code, I've realized that my time in other industries has instilled in me the "soft" skills required to not only succeed myself, but ensure that those around me are also motivated to bring their "A-game", every day! Ideally, my career path would lead to a job working with the VA's healthcare system, as it is a dream of mine to help build a system where I know my brothers and sisters who have worn the uniform have accessible healthcare made available to them.

Projects
InkLink
InkLink
Tools Used
InkLink is an app helping people find curated artists and local tattoo parlors that fit their tattoo style in their area. This was our Module 3 Consultancy project - I pitched the idea, and along with my team, was assigned this project - This was our first foray into the Front End side of things, and Bootstrap was a lot of fun to play with and figure out. Overall, a lot of hard work went into this project, and we're very proud of how it came out!
Whether Sweater
Whether Sweater
Tools Used
Whether Sweater is an app that aids you in planning a roadtrip by aggregating information from both the Mapquest API and weatherapi to find the length of the trip in time, and provide the weather at your destination. -- This project consisted solely of a back-end API with no front-end to show aside from the wireframes provided. I've included a screenshot of one of the more complicated serializers as well as a screenshot of some of my testing.
FlightLog
FlightLog
Tools Used
FlightLog is a convenient, easy-to-use app for pilots to log their flight hours in order to facilitate career advancement. This was our back-end team's first dive into Python, and it was a lot of fun seeing the parallels and contrasts from working with Ruby on Rails. All together, we were given a week and a half to create this app, and the whole team is incredibly proud of what we were able to push out, especially seeing as both the front- and back-end teams were working with a new language/framework.
