About me

As a natural-born teacher, I spent many years as a high school math teacher, where I developed a talent for fostering strong relationships with my students and collaborating with fellow teachers and administrators. These skills, combined with my expertise in mathematics, allowed me to excel in breaking down complex ideas into manageable parts and presenting them in an easy-to-understand manner.

While I loved teaching, I also had a passion for solving challenging logic and technical puzzles. This led me to discover the world of software development, where I've been able to leverage my management and communication skills, as well as my problem-solving abilities, to learn new skills and technologies quickly and deeply.

Now, as a promising backend developer, I'm eager to continue growing and learning, while also providing education-level documentation and communication to my fellow developers. My unique blend of education and technical expertise allows me to make meaningful contributions to software development projects, while also helping others grow and succeed.

In the face of an increasingly hostile political climate towards LGBTQ+ individuals, it's more important than ever to provide safe spaces for homeless LGBTQ+ youth, we wanted to make an app that would let vulnerable youth search for LGBTQ+-friendly shelters across the United States but a national database of LGBTQ+-friendly shelters didn't exist.

This application is designed to fill that void. It allows users to add a shelter to a growing list, and rate those lists based on how queer friendly, safe, or clean they are.
