About me

I am an avid learner and a strong problem solver. The journey which led to my experience at the Turing School of Software & Design started during my years of study in graduate school for public health, specifically biostatistics. Upon graduation, I was offered an internship in data science at a small tech start-up. I first learned how to code using Python and developed my technical skills using that language for data analysis purposes. I also received an introduction to machine learning and AI. Exploring these various endeavors helped to facilitate my career transition as a software developer. I am excited to utilize my past experiences and newly acquired skill set to shift my career to a React, JavaScript, and CSS/HTML role for Front-End Engineering.

This is a web application built to provide a particular selection of music to facilitate focus while at work. The goal was to apply the new technologies learned and work within constraints to deliver a product for a niche audience, which helps solve a unique problem. The user can like or 'heart' a song that will be saved to a playlist page and that same song can then be deleted from the playlist page. To return to the home page, just click the 'Home' button. Stay tuned for actual links to playable songs! Created a React app with a multi-page UX using Router, Cypress testing, and an Express server for the back-end. All data was hand-rolled.

This was a final showcase project assigned during Module 3 of the Turing School of Software & Design's Front-End Engineering program, the details of this project are outlined in this project spec.

'Rancid Tomatillos' is a movie viewing application, not to be confused with Rotten Tomatoes, or Netflix, or IMDB. This is our first project using React.js! It's even better! On the main page of our application a user can view all movies with their movie poster, title, and tomatillo rating of excellence. The user can also search by movie title and the page will auto update with movies that match the criteria. If a user wants to view additional details about the movie, they can click on the movie and will be taken to a movie detail page with movie trailers to swipe through, overview, genres, release date, and runtime. To exit and go back home, just click the X button in the top corner. Happy movie browsing! Gained competency with React fundamentals by creating a multi-page UX using Router. Learned how to test React components & asynchronous JS using Cypress E2E configuration.

This was a paired project assigned during Module 3 of the Turing School of Software & Design's Front-End Engineering program, the details of this project are outlined in this project spec.
