A nun exorcises her right to bear arms in this quickdraw game, built with Typescript and React. Play as Sister Beretta, the gunslinging nun, as she saves a variety of individuals from demonic possession. Featuring hand-drawn dynamic character models, bizarre dialogue and fast-paced reaction-based gameplay, NUNSLINGER is by far the most fun I've had working on a project at Turing. The concept for the game popped into my head more or less fully formed while I was working on something else and within 20 minutes, I'd ironed out all the game mechanics and balance decisions. I'd envisioned it as a hybrid turn-based/reaction strategy game but due to time constraints and several other maybe-too-ambitious features, we were only able to implement the reaction aspect of the game. Almost all of the game logic was conceptualized and coded by me, which improved my understanding of TypeScript and React hooks immensely. In my opinion, the original art is the standout aspect of the project, and I was fortunate to be able to work with such a talented team to bring my concept into being.

A recipe site with no official name (a randomizer is used to determine the page header on load). Choose from 50 recipes, none of which were tested by anyone on our team, many of which we were afraid to cook.

The coolest and arguably most useful feature of the site is the pantry, where a user can enter ingredients they have in their home. The site can then tell you if you have the requisite materials to cook a given recipe and will inform you what ingredients you are missing and what quantities of them you need to acquire. The site will then deduct those quantities from your pantry after you have cooked the recipe, which allows a user to keep track of what they have on hand.

This project was an immense undertaking and in one of the two weeks, we put in 95+ hours to accomplish our goals. This experience taught me so much about healthy team dynamics and collaboration; the way we planned out and executed the project day by day while making sure everyone had their individual learning and mental health needs met will be a model for me in many future endeavors.
