Cory Powell

I am originally from Colorado where I grew up hiking, biking, camping, and being outdoors in general—all which developed a curiosity exploring the history and geography of a place. I have a decade of experience in the grocery industry where I developed a passion for produce, quality, and sourcing that took me to many different parts of the company I worked for. From the sales floor, the back of house production, the logistics side in the regional warehouse, and multiple stores across many regions of the country. In that time I also embraced leadership roles taking charge of subteams responsible for sales between 20-30k a week and where I grew profit margin and enacted more efficient systems through collaboration with my team of 12 people.

During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, while successfully qualifying for a package car driver position at UPS, I made a pivotal decision to redirect my career path. Trusting my instincts I made a conscious choice to research a meaningful change and pivoted towards becoming a backend software engineer.

This next phase of change aligns with my evolving needs and pursuit of work that challenges and energizes my mind. I’m excited about collaborating with like-minded individuals who share a passion for continuous learning and having an open mind to new ways of thinking and experiencing the world. As I set out on this new chapter, I look forward to leveraging my curiosity, problem-solving skills, and camaraderie in the dynamic field of software engineering.
