About me
I am excited to bring my passion for problem solving and drive to find answers to the field of software engineering. Helping my team work through errors, tackle a bug or using TDD (Test Driven Development) to create a thorough test suite and guide code creation is what brings me the most fulfillment as a backend developer.
My time at Turing has taught me that I am tenacious and this is just the start of my tech journey. Using Ruby on Rails I helped create projects that build and consume API's, work with relational databases and restructured a monolith application into micro-services. While working solo has it's own perks, I prefer collaborating with a group, promoting a positive work culture and helping my teammates grow. Supporting my cohort mates with troubleshooting, helping them learning a new skill and watching them succeed is one of the most rewarding experiences I have had.
Before transitioning into software development I spent over 2 decades in the veterinary industry as a veterinary technician. I used a variety of modalities and management practices to improve the quality of life of patients, owners, coworkers and enhance the human/animal bond. My curiosity and love for animal welfare, medicine and owner empowerment/education drove me to pursue additional licensing and a certification in canine physical rehabilitation.

Board Together is a full stack application that allows a user to search for board games, add them to their collection, share their games with other users and borrow games from other users.
This was a collaborative project created with the combined efforts of front end and back end teams.
As part of the back end team, we utilized Rails/GraphQL to consume a 3rd party API for a board game search and created a micro-service API for the front end team to consume.
