Hello, my name is Alex Mora and I am a software developer based in California. I have a passion for building efficient, robust, and scalable software applications that provide value to users. My technical skills include expertise in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, SQL, HTML, CSS, and ActiveRecord, as well as experience with design patterns, workflow tools, and test-driven development.
My recent projects, such as Lunch & Learn, Viewing Party, and Little “Esty” Shop, demonstrate my ability to design and implement complex software applications with different requirements, using APIs, advanced database techniques, and service-oriented architectures. These projects also showcase my proficiency in testing, error handling, and authentication.
Before transitioning to software development, I worked as a Heavy Equipment Instructor for the Military and a Maintenance Computer Tech for Barstow Unified School District. These experiences taught me the importance of collaboration, attention to detail, and self-motivation, which I bring to my software development projects.
I recently completed a Back End Software Engineering program at Turing School of Software & Design, which provided me with 2,000 hours of project-based learning in data structures, object-oriented programming, and building database-backend web applications. This program enhanced my skills and allowed me to collaborate with peers and instructors in a remote environment.
In summary, I am a driven and passionate software developer with a strong background in technical skills, collaborative work, and self-learning. I am excited to bring my skills and experience to a team that values innovation and excellence in software development.

Lunch & Learn
Lunch & Learn
The "Lunch & Learn" repository contains the source code for a back-end API designed to expose endpoints that provide recipes and learning media from a given country. The API returns data with serialized JSON responses and utilizes error handling with serializers. The project consumes the following APIs: YouTube, Edamam, Unsplash, and REST Countries. The code includes fully-tested API exposure and user authentication features. The project was an individual effort, took 45 hours, and was completed in January 2023.
The "Viewing Party" repository contains the source code for a Rails application that allows users to register, login with authentication, and create movie viewing parties with other users. The application consumes The Movie DB API to provide movie details through a service/facade design. The database schema utilizes a many-to-many relationship for users and viewing parties. The code utilizes ActiveRecord/SQL for database logic queries and includes fully-tested features. The project was a paired effort, took 60 hours, and was completed in November 2022.
Little Esty Shop
Little Esty Shop
The "Little Esty Shop" repository contains the source code for a fictitious e-commerce platform that allows merchants and admins to manage inventory and fulfill customer invoices. The project was developed by a team of four and utilizes advanced ActiveRecord/SQL techniques to perform complex database queries. The code includes fully-tested features and was completed in 70 hours in October 2022. The project includes multiple branches to facilitate development and merge requests.
