About me

I came into my career transition with a passion for crafting, a desire for continuous learning and growth, and looking for a challenge. I have found that software development satisfies all of my driving forces and more, and in abundance. As an engineer, I am eager to collaborate with other devs, designers, and solution-seekers, and to code beautiful and powerful applications. I am energized by the exchange of knowledge, and I hope to help and mentor others on their journeys as well.

With over twenty years of experience in the service industry, management, quality assurance, and as an artisan cheesemaker, I bring a well-rounded and enterprising perspective to problem-solving. My skills in clear communication, leadership, and team building enable me to create transparent, authentic, and constructive interactions and feedback. My technical expertise combined with my artistic streak enables me to design and develop innovative solutions, while my experience in customer-facing roles and management has honed my ability to understand and meet users' needs and guide teams towards success. In my background in food service, I learned the importance of teamwork and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, while my experience in quality assurance has given me a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence. My experience supervising production and operations and in managing documentation has equipped me with the skills to effectively communicate complex technical information and ensure that all team members are aligned with project and company goals. In developing and leading employee training programs, I have discovered a passion for teaching and mentoring and am looking for that in my future roles. My work in wildlife rehabilitation has rounded me into an individual that brings empathy and humility to all of my endeavors, especially when the stakes and pressure are high. With my drive to continuously improve, I bring a diverse and creative skill set to any team and am well-equipped to tackle the challenges of modern software development, all while ensuring high-quality deliverables and efficient yet empathetic team management.

In my spare time, you can find me eating fine cheeses, watching Star Trek, or at the bird rescue center volunteering as a raptor handler. I'd also like to start taking Aikido lessons this year! I am currently reading Travels in Siberia by Ian Frazier.
