About me

Hi, my name is Sully, and my pronouns are he/him. I am a Backend Software Engineer that loves going to the gym 💪 and solve new challenges 🧩, not particularly in that order. A skill I particularly appreciate is being a quick learner. Taking advantage of that skill while growing up, I learned to speak Mandarin Chinese, Farsi, played many sports from soccer to volleyball, learned as much as I could about fast cars, and learned many other skills as well! My life goal is to fill up a garage of beautiful cars too fast for driving on the streets!

Being the eldest sibling, I adopted the skill of being a great leader. Working on great teams and accomplishing goals is a task I love doing. Being very organized, and planning as much as I can, results in a smooth team dynamic getting great things done as efficiently as possible. Using Test Driven Development is a great method I use, that helps keep my projects organized and clean. Coding in Ruby using Object Oriented Programming makes developing understandable and can make creating anything possible. I follow the MVC pattern in Rails, which makes the process as efficient as possible. When I studied Backend Engineering, I was amazed when I learned about API’s. Now I can not only consume them, I can create a Backend API somebody else can consume! Utilizing gems like Faraday, Bcrypt, Figaro, Pry, RSPEC, SimpleCov, and many more, I can expand my project functionality and have amazing features.

I’ve always dreamed of working on something that people would use everyday that positively impacts their life. Just like how Uber changed the transportation industry, I want to change an industry and improve the quality of the way people live. My goal as a software developer is to become a Full Stack developer by utilizing Frontend technologies. Working on side projects that require Frontend Technologies, I expand my expertise to all developing areas, which would greatly help me accomplish my dream. I would also love to learn the Frontend Technologies your company uses : )
