About me

Adventure is one of the most important aspects of my life and this journey into Software Development has been just that. I have always had a desire to grow, learn, and challenge my abilities in all aspects of my life to push the boundaries of what I thought was possible. I am very excited to push into the Technology Field with a focus on Frontend Development using HTML, CSS, Javascript, React, and test driven development. With the strong desire to explore this adventure, I am thrilled to continue the pursuit of reaching my full potential.

For the past 15 years I have worked in the Outdoor Education field as an instructor/coach as well as a photographic retoucher for various editorial, fashion, and eCommerce companies. My approach stems from years of experiential education where I specialized in developing groups of people from diverse backgrounds, cultivating leadership, and progressing individuals through challenging experiences in unfamiliar environments. I have always thrived off the individual’s willingness to grow and progress in ways they never imagined possible.

With my background in photography as well as developing athletes and people, it leads me here to pushing myself in ways that I have asked my students to do my entire career. I feel that my skillsets in problem solving, communication, organization, creative design, and process allows me to be an effective member of any team I am put on.

Currently, I am searching for a Frontend Software Engineering position that will challenge me to hone my skills as a developer as well as allow me to contribute to a mission driven team. If you find yourself curious about my adventure or just want to reach out, you can contact me here, through LinkedIn, or through email at mrlandino@gmail.com.

Pom Pets is a pomodoro/time management mobile application themed around taking care of a pet. This application is a group project completed during Mod 3 at Turing School of Software & Design that was completed over the duration of one week. The main goal of this project was to self teach a new technology to ourselves and use it. In this case, it was React Native.

A Pom Pet is a way to help measure your poms and productivity while working. By taking the Pomodoro concept and "gamifying" it by borrowing themes from games like Tamagotchi, Pom Pets creates a way to visually represent your work/break time as a Pet. The stricter you are with your work and break schedule, the healthier the pet. If your work and break time are too disproportionate, your Pet's health will decrease.

The Overlook project was a solo assignment for Turing School of Software and Design's Front End Module 2. This site allows a user to sign in and book hotel rooms based on preference. Users have the ability to filter through rooms via date as well as roomType.

The goals for this project included writing vanilla javascript while incorporating Fetch calls and interaction with a backend API. I wrote test files for each class and the method within those classes - getting more comfortable with Mocha and Chai in the process.
