About me

I am a Front-End Software Developer that comes from an extensive and successful social work background. I decided to make this career transition after considering other ways that I can extend my reach for working with people by leveraging technology and its many applications in our modern world.

I hope to find an opportunity that allows me to apply my skills in a company or organization that recognizes the value of developing human-centered technology, and allows me to contribute to the work by applying various aspects of my expertise. I am someone who constantly seeks environments that will nurture the growth mindset I have sought to develop throughout my life, as I know that every new challenge is an opportunity to expand on my skills.

For immigrants, it can be difficult to maintain language and culture alive in future generations unless it is done with a lot of intentionality. That is where Lessons from Abuelita came from: a space where new generations can maintain their Spanish language skills by practicing with their grandmother/grandparents, with the added layer of keeping in touch with a grandparent who may live in another country or region.

This was a week-long solo project that allowed for the opportunity to plan the entirety of the application, including creating wireframes and project boards. The application was created using React and is supported in mobile and desktop views.

When an art lover visits an art museum, they walk around the museum, and naturally find themselves gravitating towards art that fits their style or overall preferences which can include a preference towards certain color palettes. Painting by (hex) Numbers is an app that facilitates this! Users are be able to view only art that matches their preferred color palettes by allowing them to specify what color swatches they want to see, and they are then led to see art that matches those colors and favorite them into their collection. This project was created in approximately one week to demonstrate our ability to learn a new technology to make a fully functioning application. This project included Typescript and React with Hooks.
