About me

Natural problem-solver driven by an enthusiasm for learning new things and making connections between seemingly disparate sources.

I came to Turing because I kept noticing gaps in the various technologies of my prior careers - archaic, proprietary file-management systems that were held together by tape, a clear lack of empathy for the user, nonexistent design, and more. Toward the end of 2020, I decided I would invest myself fully into learning code so that I could find opportunities which would allow me to work on these gaps and hopefully fill them with something useful and beneficial.

Prior to involving myself with code, I was involved with wedding photography, vehicular photography, and hospitality - three industries where I was able to hone my grit and learn to handle extreme pressure, stress, and customer satisfaction like a champion. I’m looking forward to utilizing these skills in my next career venture.

An app that lets people looking to invest in cryptocurrencies get accurate Tarot readings to help them make financial decisions guided by the spirits

Created for the Mod 3 FE Niche Audience final project, CrypTarot is an app meant to appeal to people whose interests are at the crossroads of modern tech (i.e. cryptocurrency) and occult topics (they use the Co-Stars app, enjoy astrology, tarot, etc). It provides a novel, fun, and educational experience in learning about cryptocurrencies/current exchanges and Tarot card meanings.

Learning Goals:
• Creating a React-based application for a specific, niche audience.
• Demonstrating a mastery of React, React Router, Asynchronous JS, and End to End testing with Cypress.
• Implementing stretch technology learned from previous project (setting up and deploying an API via PostgreSQL, Express, & Heroku).

The goal of this partner project was to create a website where users can view movie information hosted from a Heroku API.

Learning Goals:
• Build a solid understanding of React fundamentals.
• Retrieve and display data from a Heroku API.
• Incorporate Cypress to test React components and asynchronous JS.
• Practice refactoring a single page application to a multi-page UX using Router

Better Jeopardy is a trivia game app created with React during Mod 3 of the FE program at the Turing School of Software & Design. It was involved utilizing an unfamiliar technology, learning and implementing it.

Learning goals:
• Incorporating a new technology into the application that isn't explicitly taught in the curriculum.
• Create an MVP application utilizing our chosen stretch technology .(i.e. deploying an API utilizing PostgreSQL, Express, and Heroku)
• Showcasing an ability to learn and execute on new and unfamiliar things.
