About me

I’m an experienced problem solver with a background in technical support. As a support specialist, I worked directly with customers to solve a variety of client-side problems, navigating new challenges while gaining insight into the user’s perspective. This insight, combined with a blossoming interest in software development, is why I’m excited to transition into the role of a software engineer.

My work is most fulfilling when I’m helping to improve the lives of others by finding solutions to their day-to-day problems or increasing the efficiency of their workflows. Because of this, I’m driven to build intuitive web applications that focus on providing a valuable experience for the user. To ensure that my work continues to be fulfilling, I’m eager to further the depth of my web development knowledge and take on opportunities for growth.

A majority of my projects have revolved around designing and implementing UIs, allowing me to develop a deep understanding of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. This foundational knowledge has transitioned into a proven proficiency with React, TypeScript, and Cypress. Along with my experience in client-side development, I have been learning and working with Node, Express, MongoDB, and Mongoose to fill out my server-side experience.

TikTaco is an application that is geared towards social media food influencers looking for their next viral recipe. Users can quickly and easily generate a unique taco with a random combination of toppings to share with their followers. If a winning combination is generated, users can favorite a generated taco to view it later.

As the audience for this application was social media influencers, a mobile-first approach was taken to cater to their specific needs. Responsive design was also a major focus to ensure that the application was viewable on desktop devices.

Netflex

Netflex is a homage to review aggregator sites, providing movie lovers with information about a recent collection of films. Users can look through the full list of films or utilize the search field to filter the movies by title. Error handling was added to handle invalid queries and provide immediate feedback to the user.

React w/ React Router was utilized to dynamically render the different views of this single page application. Integration tests were written and performed via Cypress, ensuring that both happy and unhappy user flows were covered. Implementing page transitions, a stretch goal of this project, was done via GSAP.

Tic-Tac-Poe

Tic-Tac-Poe is an Edgar Allen Poe themed version of the classic game "Tic Tac Toe". Two players take turns placing their assigned token on a 3x3 grid in an attempt to have 3 tokens placed consecutively in a diagonal, horizontal, or vertical row. Local storage is utilized to record win positions and display them within the winning player's win column.

Creativity is what fuels my passion for software development, so I was excited to have the opportunity to get creative with the styling of the game board. Along with the gothic design, I implemented token hover states and animated turn indicators to help contribute to the user's experience.
