About me

I grew up in Colorado, however after college I moved to Arizona I have lived for several years now. I have a background in finance and used to work with making EFT payments to the IRS for many small businesses. I decided that I needed a career change as I was no longer growing in my position. My brother, who is a developer, encouraged me to pursue computer programming. Finance and development have many overlapping analytical skills that I thought could be valuable in this career transition. I was encouraged to do a coding bootcamp. After doing my research, I found that among the top coding bootcamps was the Turing program in Denver. As a visual person with a great design aesthetic I choose to pursue the front end development program. I look forward to finding a career with an exciting and engaging team, where I feel valued and energized.

Eras is an application that allows users to live more intentionally by visualizing their life as a series of meaningful events.Users can provide information about basic life events generated by a series of questions that will provide them with a visual display of their life. The ability to visualize your life as a series of events brings attention to the fleeting nature of our existence while also allowing for thoughtful reflection on how we choose to spend the time we have. Eras allows you to pursue your future in a more deliberate and meaningful way.Although built with a front and back end team, Eras was a heavy front end project, which meant a lot of work in a little amount of time.  The logic to build this was complex and included learning a new technology of TypeScript.  I was in charge of the UI, making many changes along the way to make it appear clean and approachable.

A site for making sure a user will stay warm enough based on the weather. A user is able to get the weather by city name and navigate to the next page where they can select their ideal body temperature. Then the user can add clothing items until they have hit their desired temperature. The users desired temperature and temperature as they add clothing are then stored in local storage. This project was successful in incorporating React Hooks, React Router and a clean modular structure.  Although testing could be expanded on, Under the Weather, tested a wide variety of unit, integration and async functionality.

A site for rating movies where a user can view information about movies as well as provide their own rating. By logging in a user can rate movies based on how much they enjoyed watching them. This project was my first dive into React.  It is a quite complex project for learning React, React Testing and React Router.  As a team we successfully met all functionality requests and created an asthetically appeasing UI.
