About me

My obsession with signal flow might be the primary driver of my career. It's a term I picked up as an audio engineer which is generally talked about when troubleshooting. It demands the habitual examination of a waveforms' path through air to a speaker-cone, or letters from a keyboard to a database; signal flow is the operating knowledge of every component between the original and the reproduction.

Whatever happens between those two points can seem magical ✨ a singer suddenly echoes in a nonexistent cavern, a little Italian man in a red hat jumps at the push of a button, a trumpet sounds like a synthesizer, or you send a letter and it's received immediately on the other side of the world ✨ Cool.

I get really excited about all that, so I got really good at demystifying and constructing the systems that make these things possible. Honestly though, it's just because I want to pilot a megazord of audio components or laptops, or maybe a build pianos that control the lights in your room - I don't know. I want to know what all we can connect and to what purpose we can put it to.

What I'm up to right now:

I'm working with Theorem LTS to launch a Stripe powered legal tech marketplace that will help law firms design their workflows in a tech-forward fashion. Features I've taken on include Requests For Proposals and an Algolia search engine informed by product use cases.

In my spare time I'm helping a local jazz venue redesign their live-streaming system.

Feral Suits is a band I play in. Our website is an exploration in rendering components with Schema Markup based on collections of data (events, music, lyrics).

Eventually this site will use React Admin and GraphQL as a content management system.

We wanted this site to do three things:
  1. Provide a landing page where all our important links (social, music, etc) would be in one place with a focused announcement
  2. Display our discography
  3. Show upcoming events

Hire-up is a site which aims to minimize bias in the hiring process and reduce efforts required of job applicants to produce application materials.

As a job seeker, users can create an anonymous applicant profile that highlights their skills and values. Employers can search through these profiles and message applicants who they believe would be a good fit for their open role.

My areas of focus: The search feature, rendering search results and passing fetched data between routes.

I also had a lot of fun creating functions that built randomized users as test-data.

Shout out to Gaby Mendez, another collaborator who's portfolio isn't online yet.

Roasted Tomahtoes is a movie review app. The user can log-in, read about movies, watch movie trailers, rate movies the user loved or hated, and search by a variety of criteria. We implemented features including search, favorites, ratings, and log-in. The app uses API to save and update all data. The project includes asynchronous testing suites using React and Jest libraries.

My areas of focus: Creating dynamic API calls and implementing features which can permanently or temporarily affect the state of the element (favorite icons and star ratings) as well as the search bar functionality. We also got altered and deployed our own micro-service in express to keep track of user favorites and comments.
