The goal of Black Stories Matter is to showcase a database of children's books by Black authors for educators, families, and youth. Black users can find “Mirrors”, stories they see themselves in. Other users visit for “Windows”, stories that give them a look into another experience. This is incredibly valuable to foster acceptance and understanding of all.Initially, I built a prototype of this application using an existing publishing API but found that there were not many Black authors published by the major publishers. The solution was pairing with a back end engineer to build our own database of Black children's books and authors. We look forward to growing the database and adding functionality to the user experience.

The idea behind Auctionable Change is supporting charities and the planet by reselling items and buying secondhand. Sellers can post items, set a minimum price, and select the charity that will receive the donation from the item's sale. Buyers browse items and purchase by donating to the selected charity. Buyers notify sellers through app-generated email with proof of donation and shipping information.Wins:Creating intuitive, seamless user experience for bidders and sellersAdding photo-taking and photo-uploading capabilities with third-party image hostingUsing an agile process with BE team to divide up features into actionable sprintsAdd continuous integration from the start to test each PRChallenges:Learning a new framework and how to test itWorking with a rebase git-flowStyling React Native components
