About me
After spending years in customer service, building teams, and inspiring my colleagues, I decided to join a weekend coding workshop to be part of a team developing products that would simplify users’ lives. After being bitten by the code bug, I enrolled at the Turing School of Software and Design the next month.
I love making things, so I was thrilled to see that the code I wrote worked for the purpose I intended, and it made me happy to create something that other people could use.
Having the opportunity to expand my coding knowledge with a team and build something great with them is something I’m looking forward to.

Using React, I built an app to get information about current movies with a partner.
We used an external API to bring in 60 movies, bringing in the trailers, viewer rating, runtime, genres, and an overview. We used a slider carousel for navigation of the full movie list, as well as the trailers available for each film. We also implemented a search option to find a specific movie in the list.

Using React, the Vocabulary Extender App allows users to search for words, finding synonyms and antonyms that they can work into their everyday lives. Whether they want to use this for writing, general conversations, or just find another way to say something, I've got them covered.
I used the Big Huge Thesaurus API to implement a fetch that will display synonyms and antonyms for verbs, adverbs, adjectives, and nouns. The user has the option to add and remove words to/from a saved list, as well as removing words they don't need anymore. I also utilized Cypress testing for my end to end testing.
