About me

Hi, I'm Mary Turpin. I'm a problem solver who loves diving into new challenges! Currently, I'm learning Ruby and Ruby on Rails.

When I'm not coding, I'm usually reading a book or out exploring the city. Prior to moving into software development I was working in property management. I aim to bring my skills with people and communication to my new field.

This is an app that allows users to place public restrooms on a map and leave a review of different bathrooms.

We utilized the google map API to display a map and place pins on it to show the location on the restroom.

I worked on the client side of the application getting the map displaying and utilizing Javascript to place pins, working with styling elements, and setting up Oauth through google and restricting the abilities of the user based on whether they are logged in or not.

This is an API called sweater weather. It allows you to query for forecast information in a specific city, create a user account and randomly generate an api key associated with the account, retrieve a user account's api key using a email and password set up during the user account creation, and lastly, when using the api key, plot a route between two city's and get a weather forecast for the hour of estimated arrival in the destination city.

It uses the open weather api and mapquest api.
