About me

I am a software developer and lifelong learner. After spending 25 years in healthcare, first as a bedside nurse, and then as a family nurse practitioner, I transitioned to the software development industry. I bring with me years of empathy, leadership, expertise, and creativity in solving problems and creating solutions. My goal in the software engineering field is to leverage my background as a healthcare provider to incorporate a passion for learning and organic systems into the design of technological tools that will improve user interactions and leave a positive mark on humanity.

Welcome to Bookworm, the app that remembers the book for you. Browse through the lists from the New York Times Bestsellers, filter by genre or view them all. Hover over a book to see more details, such as author, publisher, and description. Save books that sound interesting so that your list is ready the next time you are at the library, bookstore or online, you'll never have to wonder which book you wanted to read next. This is the final showcase solo project for Module 3 of Turing School of Software and Design. The purpose of the project was to create a React act from the ground up, in a week. This application utilizes React Router and performs End-to-End testing using Cypress.

  • A news app that is connected to the New York Times API, featuring current top home stories, as well as ability to filter by newspaper section when clicking on the links in the top nav bar. Each story tile also has a link to the full story on the NYT website.
  • This project was a personal challenge to continue to practice and improve with React.js skills and libraries, Router, and RESTful APIs. I love fiddling with styling and layout, so no project is complete without design.
