About me

Last year when my colleague asked me if I could design a new website for his new cannabis consulting company, the first thing I did was reach for Excel. Not having a programming/design background I created a spreadsheet and researched what national and international companies' websites look like and what services they provide. Seeing so many sites that ranged from "how is this even a site?" to "how did they make this site so awesome?!" made me think 🤔. "I wonder how these sites were created to be publicly available and how do they implement animations like that?" I finished my research in a couple days and submitted the spreadsheet to the web designers. They were BLOWN AWAY! I clearly have an eye for what works and doesn't work on a website. Where do the user's eyes go and is the website inviting yet resourceful? At that moment I decided to look into web development. I researched schools, what life is like as a developer, etc. and enrolled at Turing. Looking back I was conducting UX/UI research on my own utilizing color theory and other well established concepts of the web development industry.

I am now a front-end developer who can design and build websites! Currently, I am interested in new opportunities to up-skill, be a part of new projects that challenge me, and of course make new bonds with people I meet along the way 🌻.

Treezy is a full-stack application for CO residents to enter their zip code and see which trees are best for planting in their backyard. Our team hand-rolled two data sets, uploaded them to a PostgreSQL database, and used Express as our backend framework which runs on Node. The app is deployed on Heroku and tested with Cypress. Treezy is intended to help combat global warming by planting trees 🌳.
