About me

I'm a curiosity driven software developer with a background working in hospitality and outdoor recreation.

Although unconventional, I believe that my experience working as a backcountry guide has made me a more adaptable and dynamic problem solver, as well as a flexible and positive team member. I enjoy working in a collaborative group, and I have learned that there is never just one way to do something. I am constantly seeking better solutions in all areas of my life.

This application allows a user to visit a 'virtual' art gallery, viewing pieces with a range of styles and mediums. They can then 'favorite' the pieces they like to refer back to.

Although the application is not a true use case for Redux given its smaller scope, our team was instructed to self-teach a technology and we wanted to dive into global state management. This was a great opportunity to learn a new technology with no help from instructors or mentors.

Overlook Hotel allows a user to login to their personal hotel dashboard, where they can view their booked hotel rooms as well as add new bookings based on their preferred criteria. The main learning goals were to get more comfortable with API calls, asynchronous JavaScript (with no use of async/await allowed), and to focus on an intuitive user experience.

I enjoyed the challenge of making this application with only vanilla JavaScript and no use of a framework.

This application provides a quick and easy way for a user to plan their next river trip. They are able to view all available trips, or filter for certain trips that meet their criteria, adding the trips they like to their personal bucket list.

Created over a quick five day sprint, I used Express for a mini backend, and React/JavaScript for the frontend.
