About me

Empathy is my superpower and I’m passionate about helping others. I have 10-plus years of working in a major New York hospital where I've learned to have empathy and respect for folks from a variety of diverse backgrounds. I excelled in delivering time-sensitive quality care to patients and colleagues.

Working in the healthcare industry, I used software daily to improve the patient experience. At the same time, I was curious and documented ways to improve the software. I took a course in web development to learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery. The course was a positive learning experience and opened my eyes to pursuing a career as a software engineer. Building software reminds me of my love for solving math problems and crossword puzzles. I enjoy the challenge and continuous opportunities to learn something new every day as a developer.

I want to collaborate with a diverse and inclusive team of software engineers that value work-life balance and continued learning. I want to inspire and be a role model for people who look like me to start a career in tech.

I like spending time with my family and traveling when I'm not coding. Fun fact: I traveled solo to China to attend the 2014 International Scholar Laureate Program and walked the Great Wall of China.

Recip-Eco is an eco-conscious recipe application. Our users can search for a recipe based on the ingredients they have on hand to prevent food waste. Recipes can further be filtered by health and diet labels making the user experience extremely customizable to the user's preferences.

My group and I learned TypeScript on our own outside of the Turing curriculum. We implemented TypeScript into a React application and also utilized React Hooks. The user flows were thoroughly tested via End-to-End (E2E) testing with Cypress for happy paths and network request failures.

Rancid Tomatillos is a paired project inspired by Rotten Tomatoes. It was built using React and React Router to mimic a multipage application by allowing users to navigate to different "pages" or views. The user interface is easy to navigate between the home page, movie details page, and movie trailer page.

The application consumes a REST API to display a list of movies. Movies can be sorted alphabetically or sorted by movie ratings. User flows are tested with End-to-end (E2E) testing via Cypress.
