About me

I'm a dog mom 🐕‍🦺 , puzzler hobbyist 🧩 , former Human Resources Professional turned Front End Software Engineer! 👩🏼‍💻

In 5 years of working Human Resources (HR), I cultivated strong communication, collaboration, conflict resolution skills. I learned how to project manage large initiatives like scaling company policies & procedures to launching company wide employee programs. In finding my confidence in HR, I arrived in a place where I had a decision to make - solidify my career in HR or grow my professional career in my dream job - software engineering.

My time in HR was always connected to the tech/software industry. And through helpful conversations with my HR mentors, I realized planning and attention to detail would be better realized in software engineering. For example, when presented with a task I followed a process:

  1. Seek to understand the problem, what was happening, why was it happening, who was it impacting, and what was the impact of the problem?
  2. From there, I would evaluate what the risk to the business was and what the risk to the employee population was.
  3. Next, I would draft solutions roadmap - who needed to be involved in the solution process, who needed to be an audience to ensure we were heading in the right direction, create timeline based off risk and priority, create a communication plan
  4. And then get started!

In October of 2021, I started with Turing's introductory program, Mod 0, and caught the buzz. Writing and debugging code gives me the same rush of finding the missing puzzle piece 🤓. The best feeling is knowing my past self would be proud of the woman in tech I have become.

Now I am seeking a role as a Front End Software Engineer, Web Developer or UX/UI Engineer.
