About me

I first became aware of my interest to pursue a career in software design while teaching virtually in the spring of 2020. Covid forced students and teachers out of their classrooms and into Zoom rooms. I had to find new and engaging ways to help my students learn and keep them interested in the lessons. This would not have been possible without the use of many different educational websites and apps.

When I decided I was ready to make a career change, I knew that software design, specifically EdTech, was the path I wanted to pursue. I believe that, as a former teacher, I can bring a great deal of knowledge and experience to help improve upon existing software and continue to develop new ones.

Kvizo is an application designed for teachers and students that allows users to create and take multiple answer quizzes. The backend of Kvizo utilizes a Ruby on Rails framework, and RSpec testing suite, as well as WebSockets with Action Cable to facilitate live quizzes. The frontend uses React and Javascript. It was developed as a Mod 4 capstone project at Turing School of Software and Design.

The Neigh-bors application is designed to connect farms with volunteer rescuers to evacuate horses during natural disaster events. It utilizes a Ruby on Rails framework, RSpec testing suite, as well as Google user authentication. It was developed as a Mod 3 Consultancy project for The Turing School of Software and Design.
